Flexpansion is a system for increasing the speed and ease of text input to electronic devices. It allows the user to enter text in an abbreviated form (as in txt msg speak), and then fills in the gaps automatically to produce full, correctly-spelled English.
Business: MHN has worked closely with Flexpansion's designer through the whole lifecycle of the product. Starting with a basic academic proof-of-concept implementation, MHN produced first a Microsoft Word plugin and then a general-purpose input method for portable Android devices, now on commercial release. Significant usability, performance and resource usage improvements were achieved, as well as the addition of major new features including adaptation to the user's writing style and personal vocabulary.
Technology: The linguistic logic of Flexpansion is encapsulated in a portable C++ engine, currently supported on Windows, Linux and Android. It presents a well-defined API, allowing it to be easily embedded in other systems.
