Mobile Healthcare Networks (MHN) was established in 2007 by a group of friends shortly after graduating from the University of Edinburgh. Initially, the company sought to develop a low cost, mobile telemetry system to import clinical data directly from bedside devices into an electronic patient record system, even winning a SMART:Scotland development grant with which it produced a working prototype. However, due to cuts in healthcare R&D funding and a lack of standardised EPR infrastructure with which to integrate, work on the system was placed on hold, with plans to revive it once it becomes viable again.

Along the way, MHN was approached by other small start-up companies seeking technical assistance, and discovered that the company's skills were well-suited for an external development & consultation role. This has now become MHN's main focus, with an emphasis on providing complete solutions to both technical and business problems. Our approach of working in constant communication with clients and minimising the design/develop/demonstrate iteration time allows us to work right from the initial vision until the finished product, refining and polishing as we go.
